A bar or bat mitzvah is often the first rite of passage for a young Jewish teenager. Their first time speaking before a crowd. In another language! Their first time being the center of attention and being celebrated by their friends and family. This makes for a very meaningful and emotional experience for both the parents and the child. My mitzvah coverage is usually two-fold. The pre-ceremony family portraits done the week before the service and the party. I approach my mitzvah photography in a very similar way to a wedding. I am looking to capture moments and fun in addition to making beautiful and clean family photos and creating interesting portraits of the mitzvah boy or girl. The joy and pride of completing the first step to adulthood can make for some wonderful images.
